Year Team is an intensive year long discipleship process that centers around Teaching, Being, and Doing. You’ll be taught by incredible leaders, be in accountable relationships, and do ministry in several different contexts.
Ever feel like there has to be more to your life as a Christian? Ever feel like you’re just living day to day with no real vision for your life? Ever get frustrated when your life doesn’t reflect the adventures and miracles found in the Bible? If you’ve ever asked these questions (or any like them) Year Team Training is for you.
Teaching is defined by our program time each week during which we grow in our understanding of God, ourselves, and how He has equipped us for His purposes.
Being is defined by the relationships we have during the year with fellow Year Team participants, mentors, Huddle (small group) members, and with individuals we serve in a ministry context.
Doing is defined by the stuff we do for God. Doing may include serving behind the scenes at church, praying for strangers at the mall, feeding the homeless, going on missions, or being part of a specific ministry at St. Andrew’s.

Year Team Training begins in late August and concludes in early May. Year Team meets on Tuesdays (6:00-10:00pm) and Thursdays (9:00am-1:30pm). In addition, participants are expected to serve at least one other ministry of St. Andrew’s Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Total time commitment ends up being around 20 hours per week.
Year Team Training is a ministry of St. Andrew’s Church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. One of the greatest strengths of Year Team is its tie to the local church and community. Time in Year Team is not just theory: it is doing the ministry we talk about.
One of the best assets of Year Team is our leadership group. Our overall course leaders are Todd and Elizabeth Simonis. Todd and Elizabeth do much of the teaching but not all of it. They set the tone, pace, and style of Year Team and also arrange for guest leaders and teachers. Our Huddle Leaders are Edy Mimms, Kurtz Smith, Joe Gibson and Elizabeth Simonis. Huddle Leaders meet with you in a smaller group (huddle) on a weekly basis to process the teaching, for prayer, and for ministry. In addition, each Year Team participant is assigned a mentor for the year. Your mentor is someone who is walking alongside Jesus and who has been for some time. This person voluntarily will invest a significant amount of time with just you.
We are entering our fourth year of Year Team at St. Andrew’s.
